Ep. #22 Hunting Javelina with Rick Forrest

Javelina season is upon us!  There is nothing more exciting for an AZ bow hunter then when December and January come around.   The weather is perfect and anyone can purchase an over the counter tag to use in certain units for Archery.  

In this episode we speak with Rick Forrest who is well known for his calling techniques.    Many people for years thought calling in Javelinas was a joke.  Rick has proven that works time and time again.  He has assisted in the taking of well over 100 skunk pigs.  Rick manufactured his own calls several years ago and has honed its efficiency over time.

In this episode we revisit with our friend Marvin Zieser.  We had Marvin on previously to speak about the Bowhunting in AZ record book.  Marvin is a longtime hunter and is passionate about filming and documenting all aspects of a hunt.  Tune in and listen as Marvin give lots of tips and useful information to shorten the learning curve when you decide to start filming your own or your friends hunts.

Ep. #20 New OTC Archery Deer Proposals with Brian Rimsza

The AZGFD has been busy with lots of proposed changes lately and have added 3 new scenarios for the over the counter (OTC) archery deer hunts that occur in AZ   Please listen to this short but informative  episode.  The 3 proposals are as follows   

1. Maintain the status quo. Basically, keep doing it the same way we have been doing it. This will lead to more and more OTC hunts being moved to a draw and the eventual closure of all OTC hunts once they exceed 20% harvest and a great loss of revenue.
2. Utilize a harvest threshold system. This is the managment strategy I have been fighting for.
3. Move everything to a draw. (estimated loss of 1 million dollars in tag sales revenue)

Ep. #18 New AZGFD Hunt guidelines, draw applications and proposed rule changes with Brian Rimsza

We speak with Brian Rimsza to discuss several of the new rule proposals and hunt guideline changes the AZGFD is actively seeking public comment on.  Brian is heavily involved within the hunting community in AZ and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the draw process, rule changes, etc.

The AZGFD is presenting possible new rules and proposals via webinars and PSA to the public currently and then those changes will be decided on by the Game Commission at a later date. 

There are several rules changes lately that have frustrated many hunters and left people wondering why they required any change to begin with.  We encourage everyone to get involved and do your due diligence in order to educate yourself and others on these possible upcoming changes.  Tune in and listen to Brian explain several of these topics in detail.
